What I do.

Mentoring.

I don't ever want another accounting business leader to feel alone and unsupported. Having started my Accounting business journey at the age of 26, I've learned a lot of lessons. Lots of ups, and lots of downs. And for some time I was taking that journey alone.

One thing I have realised, is that it is better together. No matter how smart I thought I was, or how creative I could be, having someone in my corner to hold me accountable, encourage me & console me has been incredibly vital to my personal development as a leader, as well as the growth of my business.

That's why I love getting alongside other accounting business leaders in a mentoring capacity.

I don't believe in a 12 step program to success bullshit sales & marketing spin - more an iron sharpens iron approach. Let's journey together with aim of seeing growth in your leadership role.

Speaking.

My mum always told me that one day I'd get my head kicked in because I talked so much. Thankfully she was wrong (about the head kicking part - not the talking part). I share my views, as well as a collective view of the emerging accounting community on a variety of topics.

Things I care deeply about

  • Seeing business & people within those business operate with more purpose

  • Breaking the mould - ignoring the stereotype & marching to the beat of whatever drum you like

  • Using technology to improve experiences (not replace them)

  • People - and how we can create amazing environments for them to excel

I do this through keynote speaking, Q&A panel participation, MC'ing, sharing on podcasts and writing articles. So you will see me grab a mic, and beat down on these topics (and more) with a hope that at least one person in that audience connects, has that "a-ha" moment and takes a step in the direction to give them, and their community, more joy!

Consulting.

Having been a cloud junkie since 2012, I've been fortunate to be around during the fast developing times of cloud tech in the accounting industry. My business has been fuelled by that innovation & we have been able to make significant impact because of that tech.

I love to be able to support good people, doing good things in the cloud tech space & I do that by giving them feedback that they need, not that they want (often it's what they want).

We don't need another piece of tech that is the same thing but in a different colour. We need to solve real problems, bring creative solutions & allow tech to enable incredible experiences for accountants, bookkeepers, advisors & their clients.

You might find me talking in a group session with sales teams to help them understand what an accountant is looking for. Or to the development team so they can focus on key pain points. Or the leadership team as they continue to seek out where to go from here.

Retreats.

As much as I love a good conference - they are designed for the 3,000 people in attendance & thus need to be somewhat generic in approach. I believe that most leaders know what they need to do to improve their business, but often don't have the right environment to do it.

The retreats I run are not thought leadership ego trips. They are not a bitching session on the state of the industry & they are not about getting wasted and maybe having 1 conversation with your little cliquey group.

It's about focused, peer led learning & development. It’s about supporting each other & growing together. It's about good food, amazing nature, focus & clarity.
